About the Presentation:
Are you having difficulty connecting with your parents? Educators will understand the importance of family engagement in student success, explore technology-based strategies for meaningful family connections, and leave with practical tools that can be implemented immediately.The equity importance of reaching all families, means of communicating (platforms, translation apps, virtual family nights, virtual newsletters, social media platforms), high-impact family engagement strategies (Build Relationships, Share learning goals and progress; Collaborate: surveys, advisory groups, Use tech as a family project tool, Instructional videos, and Use QR codes to share information). Implementation Steps: Assess current practices, Plan one engagement - will leave with one step to do immediately implement.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Wyn Mims is currently the School Transition Coordinator and Assistant Federal Programs Director for the Petal School District. She served as the principal at Petal ElementarySchool for the past 7 years. She has 30 years experience in education, 19 years as a teacher and 10 years as an administrator. She holds degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi (BS in Elementary Education), William Carey University (Masters in Elementary Education and Ed. D. in Educational Leadership), and The University of Mississippi (Specialist in Educational Leadership). Mrs. Mims holds National Board Certification in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts/Early and Middle Childhood. Wyn is the wife of Scotty and the mother of three boys, 3 daughter in laws and two adorable granddaughters. In her freetime, she enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family.
